Lovelock Nevada Lovelock lies in a meadow valley located on Interstate 80, 93 miles east of Reno in Pershing County. With the Humboldt Range to the east and the Trinity and Seven Troughs ranges to the north and west. The valley was known to settlers as Big Meadows because of the abundance of grass and water. It was favored as a resting place before continuing on to California and Oregon.

The rugged surroundings provide plenty of locations for rock hounds to search for agates, opalite, petrified wood, fossils, and the volcanic glass known as Apache Tears.

Lovelock courthouse is believed to be on of the only functioning round courthouses in the country. Lovelock also boasts the Lovelock Cave, site of Back-Country By-Way, detailing sites on the 22 mile tour from Lovelock's Marzen House Museum to the historic Lovelock Cave site of the discovery of 2000-year old ancient tule duck decoys, the oldest in the world.

Near Lovelock is the Coeur Rochester Mine, the world's seventh largest silver producer. Additionally, the Florida Canyon and Standard gold mines and numerous exploration projects are located north and east of town.
